Welcome to GreenPlaneTea! Here's the facts and benefits of drinking green tea

Green tea has been known for its antioxidant properties.

Antioxidants found in green tea, epigallocatechin 3-gallate a.k.a. EGCG, is much more powerful than both Vitamins C and E. Compared to other known antioxidants, EGCG was found to be 100 times more effective than vitamin C, 25 times more effective than Vitamin E. According to Hirofumi Tachibana's team at Kyushu University in Japan, green tea protects against cancers, including lung, prostate and breast cancer. Their research showed that growth of human lung cancer cells that have a cell receptor called 67 LR is slowed significantly after drinking just two or three cups of green tea which contains EGCG. Fermented tea such as Oolong and black tea, loose ECEG in the process.

  • Flavonoids

Flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds widely found in fruits, vegetables, cofee, wine, chocolate and tea. The major flavonoids in green tea are the catechins (catechin, epicatechin, epicatechin gallate, and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)).

Recent years studies had indicated that they had strong antioxidant activity. Flavonoids increase the activation of existing nitric oxide synthase, which has the effect of keeping blood vessels healthy and relaxed, preventing inflammation, and lowering blood pressure.[1]
